Government wants your A/C at 82 degrees when you’re sleeping

Your comfort is not important. Your freedom is not important. You must sacrifice both to ‘save the planet.’ So says the government.

Energy Star, the federal program from the DOE and the Environmental Protection Agency, said the coolest you should keep your home is 78 degrees when you’re home.

When you’re at work or away, the program recommends setting it at 85 degrees. When you’re sleeping, Energy Star said to set the thermostat at 82 degrees.

Right now, these outrageous temperature settings are only a “suggestion,” but what happens when the government decides it ought to be a mandate? How long might it be until that happens?
